The Male Fertility Factor: What You Don’t Know About Your Sperm and Semen Could Be Costing You Your Baby – Here’s Why

In our experience, male fertility factors are critically important, scandalously overlooked, and let down by poor mainstream testing options.

And yet, male issues are often the missing piece of the puzzle, being a factor in 40-50% of all infertility cases.

This can lead to months, and sometimes years, of unnecessary fertility frustration: taking wrong turns, following the wrong strategies, ending up confused, all while not getting any nearer to having your baby.

With so much at stake, we should be taking male fertility factors just as seriously as female factors.

Getting an in-depth understanding of these male factors should be at the top of your to do list on day 1.

But because, traditionally, the focus in fertility is placed on the woman, we find that many couples are

not even aware of any potential male factors that could be contributing to their fertility challenges.

And even where there is a level of awareness, or testing has been performed, there still tends to be a poor understanding and appreciation of the impact of male factors on overall fertility.

Let’s change that.

Whether you’re trying to conceive, suffering from recurrent miscarriages, or going through IVF (or other assisted fertility), properly assessing male factors could be the missing piece of the puzzle for you.

This is why in our you=2 Fertility Success Path, men receive the same attention in discovering your personal fertility code as women.

Coho Fertility: 100% Success In Improving Sperm Health

If you’re reading this, then perhaps you’ve had a routine semen analysis performed that’s flagged an issue, such as low sperm count, low sperm morphology, or low motility.

Our job is to work out the why.

And once we understand your why – what factors are driving the low sperm count, low sperm morphology, or low motility, then we can design your personal, precision you=2 Fertility Success Plan to resolve the root cause(s) of what’s happening.

To date we have a 100% success rate in improving sperm health for our male clients when we’ve had the opportunity to assess their root causes, and to support them through individually tailored interventions.

Sperm DNA Fragmentation

But assessing basic, foundational factors such as sperm morphology, motility, count, and concentration isn’t enough.

We also want to take a look at what’s going on inside your sperm cells – the DNA.

This is a critical factor in male fertility, as the DNA stability could be poor, yet the semen analysis results are normal

Without this testing, you would never know that sperm DNA fragmentation is holding you back from having your baby.

Sperm DNA health is critical, with poor sperm DNA fragmentation resulting in:

Sperm DNA fragmentation testing takes a dive into the integrity of the DNA inside the cells, and it can be an essential part of discovering your personal you=2 male fertility code.

How Long Does Improving Sperm Health Take?

Sperm cells take, on average, 74 days to fully mature.

So once we’ve explored your personal you=2 fertility factors, and we’ve designed your personal fertility plan, we’ll work closely with you to turn your results around within 3 months.

Through understanding your specific root causes, we can design an effective, targeted protocol that gets your sperm on top form.

Male Fertility: The Little Known Semen Microbiome Factor You Might Not Know About

Our you=2 approach to male fertility doesn’t just consider sperm health – we also need to optimise the environment in which the sperm cell is being carried – the semen.

We’re so excited to be using world-class semen microbiome testing that employs a technology enabling the lab to report 100% of everything present in a semen sample.

As far as we’re aware, semen microbiome testing isn’t being performed by conventional medicine doctors.

Certainly in the UK, it’s not offered (or even known of!), and not many fertility clinics are testing the semen microbiota.

Our clinical experience has shown us just how critical this information can be in helping couples optimise their fertility.

Often we’ve seen how sperm can be of amazing quality, have great morphology, sperm count and concentration is good, so is motility (they’re swimming fast).

All boxes ticked – and you’d be forgiven for thinking your there are no male fertility factors at play.

And without seminal microbiome testing, everything would look good, which is where couples can get stuck on their fertility journey before they come to us.

Because sometimes there’s an undetected issue with the seminal fluid, not the sperm.

The seminal fluid can contain anti-sperm antibodies, a bacterial or yeast infection (which can be a 100% hidden factor with no symptoms), or there can be a lack of healthy lactobacilli bacteria.

Poor semen quality can also affect sperm cell function.

But without semen microbiome testing, you’d never know.

There are a host of other factors that could be compromising optimal male fertility too, such as:

We take a closer look at these, and more, in our main male fertility article!
