Gabi D'Amelio
Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, BS Nursing, BA Psychology
Gabi became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach in 2018 after completing her certification at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
Gabi is originally from the USA and as a Coho Fertility health coach, she helps our clients to practically implement their nutrition and lifestyle recommendations.
Bringing her qualifications as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach together with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, has proven extremely powerful and effective in helping her clients to move forward in their journey towards better health.
While Gabi’s range of qualifications and experience brings a unique perspective both to the Coho team and to her clients, it’s her warm, empathetic, friendly, and driven personality that makes her one of the best health coaches we’ve come across.
Gabi says:
” After bouncing around many different medical specialties and institutions trying to figure out my own health issues, I found an incredible Functional Medicine Practitioner.
Rather than examining each individual symptom or body system as its own problem, she took a whole body approach in examining the root cause that was contributing to so much imbalance throughout several body systems.
We discovered that I have Sjogren’s Syndrome and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, which are both autoimmune disorders.
Over time, I have been learning to manage these conditions with a holistic approach including lifestyle and diet changes, as well as medication and supplementation.
Having experienced these conditions myself, I was inspired to find a way to support others who are going through something similar.
When I discovered the role of a health coach, I realised that is exactly what I wish I had had during my own health journey!
I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed and burnt out while trying to manage these kinds of health struggles on your own.
I worked in an Internal Medicine office as the Health Educator for a mindfulness-based weight management program catered to patients with chronic conditions.
After completing my certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I began my own health coaching practice.
For several years I worked with a variety of clients, then decided to continue my studies and obtain a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing so that I could better understand the physiology of the human body and the approach taken by Western Medicine when addressing chronic illness.
Now I work with individuals and groups to establish realistic nutrition and lifestyle changes that improve health and wellness long term.
I love to combine my education in psychology, nursing, and health coaching to take a holistic approach in supporting my clients to form healthy habits while managing complex conditions such as autoimmunity.
My goal is to minimise stress and optimise health throughout the process as we implement sustainable lifestyle changes that address diet, stress, sleep, work life balance and mindset.
As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach I believe that relationships, connection, movement, career, home environment and spirituality are just as important to your health as the food you eat.
I love to spend my free time doing yoga, rollerblading, going for long walks, blasting music and dancing around my apartment, traveling and exploring new areas and cultures, baking, and relaxing with friends and family.
Functional Medicine has helped me learn how to manage my own health conditions so that I can do all of these things that bring me joy.
I am grateful for the opportunity to support others as they improve their health as well. “
To your baby, love, and joy filled future,
Gabi & the Coho Fertility team
